Reference Manual

NAME

chat - echo arguments to a device
SYNOPSIS
chat dev|dlg [args...]
DESCRIPTION
Command chat writes the number of the current STDOUT device and each additional string argument to the device specified by argument dev. NAT32 device numbers are listed here. If the specified device is a TCP connection, chat output will be received by the application that established the connection.

If the argument dlg is specified instead of a device number, the additional string arguments will be written to the chat dialog box (if open). See chatd for details of the chat dialog box.
