The WinPkFilter driver is implemented as a Network Service that can be installed either manually, as outlined
here, or from within NAT32 via the
driver install command. On most platforms, once the driver has been installed, simply restart NAT32 to start using it.
To update the driver, uninstall the existing driver with command:
driver uninstall and then
reboot Windows. Only then should you install the new driver.
The driver itself is contained in a file called
ndisrd.sys and various versions of this file exist, one for each specific platform and driver technology. During installation, the installer may prompt for the location of the
ndisrd.sys file. If so, consult the following directory tree for the location of the needed version:
Code:
C:\NAT32v2\Drivers\
IMDRV # Intermediate drivers for Windows XP, Server 2003
WIN32 # 32-bit version
X64 # 64-bit version
LWF # Lightweight filter drivers for Windows 7, 8 and Vista
WIN7_32 # Windows 7 32-bit version
WIN7_64 # Windows 7 64-bit version
WIN8_32 # Windows 8 32-bit version
WIN8_64 # Windows 8 64-bit version
WINV_32 # Vista 32-bit version
WINV_64 # Vista 64-bit version
Prudent users will also install the NAT32 Certificate in order to verify the authenticity of downloads from the NAT32.COM website. This can be done in the NAT32 Console as follows:
run nat32.cer
The SHA1 hash for the certificate is: B5044BF745E7821FCE1D4DBCE71642F62D593388
